open file from xine MRL fails

I've got the strangest problem with xine. When I try to open a file from the MRL window, xine exits with a

xiTK received SIGSEGV signal, RIP.
Aborted

However, when I run from the CLI, it will open and play files just great:

$ xine foo.avi

[Edit]

Another piece of the puzzle, if I create a playlist, populate it with files, they play from that just great, too. But, still, I can't just use the "open file" button on the gui.

[/Edit]

I know it's not a very big problem, but, I try to understand why my system is behaving the way it is... Can anyone figure out why it's doing this?

TIA
