xorgconfig is one thing but xorgcfg is another. it might just be a gentoo thing though. beyond that i cant realy help. i still say try mandrake. good luck.

hmm, as far as the problem with the black border on your screen - what's your monitor's refresh rate set at?

and as for your n00bness (sorry can't help it) i suggest mandrake, err mandriva. it's a very good distro for noobies. it's what i started with and i stand by it as the choice for new users. you can always move on to a different distro after you get the hang of the basics. good luck!

WELL i got SLACKWARE 10.1 working WITH gui and (kde)
