old world mac

I have a beige g3 system on which I would like to run Linux but I am lacking a MacOS installation. Is there any way to make it boot Linux?

There is a way. I have never tried it but there is a distrobution for PowerPCs (Macs) called Yellow Dog Linux. http://yellowdoglinux.com/

Yellowdog is only for new world mac. Debian and Mandrake will both run on old macs but they seem to require a working MacOs installation which I do not have.

Are you sure that Debian or Mandrake require an existing MacOS installation?
