Okular can't open PDF files

Hi, I'm using Okular 4:4.14.2-0ubuntu1~ubuntu14.04~ppa1 with libokularcore5. Every time that I try to open a pdf, I get a error window that says could not open /path/to/file.pdf with a message up top saying, cannot find plugin to handle file passed. I also have the following poppler packages:
Code:
libpoppler-glib8
libpoppler-qt4-4
libpoppler44
libpoppler-data
poppler-utils
python-poppler
The qt4-4 package was required for okular and was installed with okular. I'm running Linux Mint 17.2 and any help is nice.

The latest version is 4:4.14.3-0ubuntu1~ubuntu14.04.

Installing the newer version might solve the issue your having with the plugin.

If these are the plugins:
Code:
libpoppler-glib8
libpoppler-qt4-4
libpoppler44
libpoppler-data
poppler-utils
python-poppler
than you would need to install them.

-::-OR-::- you could go into Synaptic, hit the refresh button and than see if there is a newer version of Okular and just have Synaptic install it.

This link may help too.

Debian packages:

https://packages.debian.org/search?k...bpoppler-qt4-4

Ubuntu packages:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/....24.5-2ubuntu4

With Linux Mint being built on Debian and Ubuntu I think you can use either the .deb or the ubuntu packages but you may want to wait for advise on that. I'm not sure what the preferred method is.
When I was running Mint I used .deb pkg's.:-

I installed Okular on Mint 17.1 from the repos using apt-get and have had no issues whatsoever. It looks as if you might be using an older version of Okular, but, if the correct dependencies are installed, it still should run. I'm running v. 4.8.6.

Code:
$ okular --version
Qt: 4.8.6
KDE Development Platform: 4.14.2
Okular: 0.20.2

I'm running the same version of Okular, and I installed it through the repositories. I updated the repositories and insalled okular using:
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install okular
It installed with no issue. I assumed that it would install the latest stable version available.
