Office.org won't run after update
Hi all.
I am new to Linux, using Redhat 9.0. After updating the kernel and other software with RH Network, I can't get Office.Org to run. Before the update, it did run. Now when I click on the OpenOffice.Org Writer icon, the initial splash screen appears, but the app never opens, and after a while, the splash screen disappears. Does someone know what the problem/solution is? Many thanks, dt |
Try opening a terminal and running the app from there, it should display an error when it fails and might help you determine what the problem is.

Thanks for this tip. Ironically, just before reading it, I had again tried to open the app, and it didn't open, showed only the splash screen. Then while I was opening your reply (minutes later), Office Writer burst across the monitor, asking me to register. I did, and now Office opens like a flash.

Well, I'm having fun with Open Office. Trying to import an Excel file, which is on a CD, and also on my hard drive, clearly visible, when I try to open it, it says nonexistant file!!
Star Office says the same! How do I get out of that? It can open other similar files in the same directory, just the one I want to import, the one I write my bills with, won't open, and I have to go back to Windows. |
