On user's computers, 2G ram will suffice, 1G for Linux host, 1G for guest.
Of course, more ram will be appreciable.

Another tip : give the qemu image server (can be the same machine which serves pxe) ~10G ram per virtual image it will host.

It would be correct either way in Paris, Texas. Just down yonder from Houston.
