nvidia driver makes xmms crash

OK my nvidia driver makes my xmms freeze up and i have to hit the reset button but it only does this when im using the alsa plugin for xmms. Im opretty sure it doesnt do this while using OSS but it does lag occasionaly. Im running a 32 bit version of gentoo on an AMD 64 which i didnt think would be a problem but ive never had this happen until now.

how can you be sure that nvidia causes the crash?
i didn't get it. xmms freezing is a typical problem with ouput plugin. in this case, alsa.
if alsa is not properly installed xmms will freeze. i think that is what is going on.
IMHO, it is weird that nvidia causes only xmms to freeze.

im not 100 percent sure if was nvidia but if i used the regular nv driver it didnt happen. But i fixed it, i had to configure the alsa plugin within xmms which i have never had to do before.
