Question nvidia driver kills xserver

I have two xorg.conf files. One was created by the nvidia driver and the other by the original install of Ubuntu intrepid. The nvidia one will not allow X to start up and my original will. I am going to post both here in hopes that someone can tell me what to change in the nvidia one to make it work so that I can have opengl running.

My original:
Code:
# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Have you tried changing 'nv' to 'nvidia' in the original ?

I just tried that and it killed X. X would not restart for me. So it must be the driver.

Anyone have any idea how to fix the driver?

Can you take a look in '/var/log/Xorg.0.log' there may be some clues in there, look for errors (EE) and warnings (WW).
