Well assuming that it said that it installed properly then you need to comment out these two lines I have in this section of the X config file on Debian this is /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 it may be similar for you and you need to make sure that the Load "glx" in in the section as well.
Code:
Section "Module"
# Load "GLcore"
# Load "dri"
        Load "ddc"
        Load "int10"
        Load "bitmap"
        Load "dbe"
        Load "vbe"
        Load "extmod"
        Load "glx"
        Load "record"
        Load "xtrap"
        Load "speedo"
        Load "freetype"
        Load "type1"
EndSection
Then you need to change the driver from nv or vesa to nvidia in the section similar to this.

Code:
Section "Device"
        Identifier "Card0"
        Driver "nvidia"
        Option "NoLogo" "on"
        Option "NvAgp" "1"
        Option "RenderAccel" "on"
        VendorName "nVidia Corporation"
        BoardName "NV17 [GeForce4 MX 440-SE]"
        BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection
You may want to use the NoLogo option to get rid of the damn annoying logo, the NnAgp tells the driver to use the Nvidia agpgart and the RenderAccel turns on 2D acceleration.

And you need this line in your /etc/modules.conf.

Code:
# Added by me for Nvidia card
alias char-major-195* nvidia
