nvidia driver install and kedit problems
 

hi

have suse 8.2 , trying to install nvidia driver. driver install goes okay, but when i open the bash shell, log in as root, and then open kedit-get the message-cannot connect to the x-server.

this is bad news , because i need to edit the xf86config file to be able to enable 3d acceration in the yast control panel under graphics card.

i have installed a dual boot-is this causing the problem?win 98 and suse 8.2

You should be booting to /etc/inittab runlevel 3 and using vi or another non-GUI reliant editor to edit xf86config file.

thanks, will give it try tonight. i have used kedit before, just wondering why i can, t now. sort of think the dual boot has to maybe the problem-during install i had a message of a dependency problem. later
