Nvidia Driver

Ok i have the nvidia driver installed on Mandrake 9.1 it installed ok and everything and i have edited the XF86Config so it reads like this.

# File generated by XFdrake.

# **********************************************************************
# Refer to the XF86Config man page for details about the format of
# this file.
# **********************************************************************

Section "Files"
# Multiple FontPath entries are allowed (they are concatenated together)
# By default, Mandrake 6.0 and later now use a font server independent of
# the X server to render fonts.
FontPath "unix/:-1"
EndSection

Section "ServerFlags"
#DontZap # disable <Crtl><Alt><BS> (server abort)
#DontZoom # disable <Crtl><Alt><KP_+>/<KP_-> (resolution switching)
AllowMouseOpenFail # allows the server to start up even if the mouse doesn't work
EndSection

ahh right, hidden right in the middle there... kinda hard to see one line in the middle of 200.... try putting config files inside code tags...

you haven't provided any error messages or any real description of what happens "it doesn't work" itsn't much use....

Mandrake 9.1 uses Xfree 4.x...., so you need to edit your /etc/XF86config-4 file, not your XF86config file. Your machine is still trying to use the nv driver.

My little nVidia config checklist mentions the Modules section should have Load "glx" and no mention of dri or GLcore. That and change the nv to nvidia. Seems you've changed these, so it's probably that you just didnt edit the correct file, as stated.
Nothing to it really

Change this:
Code:
Section "Device"
Identifier "device1"
VendorName "nVidia Corporation"
BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce2 DDR (generic)"
Driver "nv"
Option "DPMS"
EndSection
To This:
Code:
Section "Device"
Identifier "device1"
VendorName "nVidia Corporation"
BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce2 DDR (generic)"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "DPMS"
EndSection
