ntfs partition on rh 9

i have rh 9 installed, and i have a NTFS partition that remains from a previous XP Pro install. I can see most (90%) of the data on that partition and can read it from Linux, but there is some data that i get this error on when i try to access:

Input/output error

I have tried mounting the drive under XP again, and it shows up as raw.

Is there a way to run a chkdsk or some other NTFS file utility under RH?

Or does anyone have any other ideas?

I don't know any Linux utility that can do it (NTFS format is not open, so it's hard to write utilities for it). I guess you need Windows bootdisk/boot cd with utilities.
