The current Slax will load every partition for you, work as root and all files can be dragged and dropped without you knowing it is ntfs.

mandrake

Thanks for the answer
but i'm a mandrake 10.1 user, and i have implemente many packages on my platform, many of them compiled from source...
so i cannot change my operating system.
what i nedd are the packages...
wekk if they are in the rpm format...if not patience,i will compile from source.
my kernel is 2.6.8.1 ...
i hope this kernel is enough to support ntfs r/w

thanks in advance

Mandrake is no longer supported but superseded by Mandriva for a few years already, similar to Red Hat superseded by Fedora.

The reliable ntfs read/write software is ntfs-3g. I have tried to "yum" it into FC7, FC6 and FC5 but for FC4 and below the support stops. It sounds you may have an uphill struggle with Mandrake 10.1. ntfs-3g does make extensively various bits of the kernel improved considerably after 2.6.8.
