nscd keeps shutting down

I'm getting this error when I manually restart nscd;

nscd: 8989 no more memory for database 'hosts'

When I try to edit nscd.conf and make 211 a higher number, I get these errors;

nscd: 11607 no more memory for database 'hosts'

Anyone have any suggestions?

enable-cache hosts yes
positive-time-to-live hosts 3600
negative-time-to-live hosts 20
suggested-size hosts 211
check-files hosts yes
persistent hosts yes
shared hosts yes

What OS? What release? (Please fill in your profile info) What `nscd -V`? Did this happen since nscd install or after changes where made? What's the size of your hosts database? Any other database that's way large? How about using say Pdnsd for true persistent hosts caching instead?
