Note-taking and outline software recommendation??
 

Can anyone recommend a good note-taking and heirachical outlining software that will do categories, tabs, timestamps etc. I would like to find a good, quick app that will work on RH or Mandrake for school but haven't had much luck through the search engines.

There's also kjots, a small note-taking program included with the KDE utilities.

However, I suspect that neither of the above have all the functionality that you are looking for. If you are inclined to roll your own, here is a quick python tutorial to code an hierarchical note-taking application in PyQt.
