not able to ping a machine but can do ssh to machine , wanna run vnc client


I am not able to ping a machine but can do ssh to machine . I am browsing from the same machine .I wanna run vnc client to be able to access that machine. How can I do it . I know this is way too little info. but even i don't know much about the machine i am sitting on. you ask me the question aand i will reply.

don't run VNC, it's horrible, try nx instead at nomachine.org and run it over ssh all nice and securely. Their docs are very good for installation advice.

What does that have to do with his question? From what I read, he mentions ping not responding, but that appears to actually be irrelevant to the question in the end.

Ping is a poor choice and redundant. You KNOW the connection is good if you can ssh.
