Noob - Keylogger

Hello all - Just a quick intro here...

I am about 1 week into the wonderful world of linux, I installed and uninstalled about 10 different distro's until I came up with ubuntu/xubuntu. I know a little bit about the terminal (you type "sudo app-get" to install stuff... like I said... a little bit) but I am learning, and will continue so be patient w/ me.

That said I am looking for a keylogger that can be installed and ran in the background. Before the accusations start let me explain why. I am a father. Internet blocks and filters and the like are too uncontrolable and often stop the wrong things. I don't want to control what my daughter can and can't do... I just want to check in from time to time and see.

There was a great program on windows called family key logger that did just the trick, but I haven't been able to find a suitable alternative in linux. I know there is something called "lkl" and I tried to install it but I think it's only in the terminal???

Could someone either tell me where to get one that will boot w/ the system and stay hidden, or tell me how to reinstall lkl and configure like I want. (remember... talk to me like i'm in kindergarten)

Thanks for any help you can provide
z

The easiest way to install it is to use the Synaptic Package Manager. You'll find it under System--> Administration. Do a search for lkl when found left click it and mark for installation, finally click Apply in the toolbar above to do the install. As for configuring it I don't know as I've never used the application.

Edit: A quick google turned up this thread:
