Unhappy No Webmail sites accessible

Hi LQ,
I am using Archlinux 2.6.21-ARCH on a P4 HP machine. I am able to connect to the internet via pppoe using links or Bon Echo 2.0.0.3 as web browsers.

The problem is, I am able to connect to every other site in the world except gmail, yahoomail, hotmail etc. same thing for orkut as well.
Accessing via Bon Echo, the orkut login page comes fine; after putting the login credentials and clicking "login", the page refuses to go forward: no error message displayed.
Similar with webmail sites as well: login page ok, put username/password click on login, no response.

However, when trying with links, it shows a javascript which needs to be executed. When i allow it, it says "the page you requested is invalid".

Some help from someone... anyone...

Thanks in advance.

maybe a firewall problem

you need to enable incoming packets from port 2095 for webmail.

What!? Where did you come up with this?

Try other sites that require SSL as well.

Earlier this year I needed to access a blocked webmail from behind a college firewall. Asked the tech guy to let it through.

Perhaps this problem has a similar solution

The port you used is non-standard; specific to your college's setup, it is not going to be appropriate for the other web-based services.

I have tried accessing yahoomail and hotmail (both are SSL by default), again the same issue; i type my credentials and click login, the page simply keeps on loading....and nothing comes up.

...However, i am able to access yahoomail using links.(?!?)

BTW, my browser is Bon Echo. Is it fine or something new is needed... i mean it worked fine for several months now and then all of a sudden..

Thanks in advance

Talking

Hi all,
The problem got resolved after upgrading to Firefox 3. In fact, I should have searched properly in the forum to see the thread mentioned below before:

Thanks everyone..
