For some reason, I have lost a comand line interface in a remote VNC session, all I get once authenticated is a grey screen with the black x cursor. I have tried a few key combos, but there doesnt seem any way to generate a CLI. Unable to restart/start a VNC session as accessing server remotely and as mentioned, as soon as logged in do not have anything appear other than that previously described.

Did you try right-clicking on the grey screen with the back x cursor. This should bring up a menu and select an xterm or console or terminal to run (that's the CLI)
Right clicking has no effect, I do have access to a CLI through WEBMIN, so I may just have to delete and start a new vncserver session. I just have that darn 'cannot find xauth in your path' problem, so will try and fix that (exporting the xauth path doesnt show when typing 'echo $PATH' so something is amiss).
