No video window in VLC, mplayer and Xine always quit ?

I can't watch any video... VLC play the audio but no video and either Xine or Mplayer quit before starting. Please help me

what version of linux are you using?

and when you say no video, do you mean a black screen or broken coloured blocks?

In VLC, I got the sound but the window just quit as soon as it open... In Xine and Mplayer the whole W-windows quit and I return tu the log in screen... I use yellowdog linux 3.1 (with redhat) on a eMac ppc.
