I just got Fedora Core 2 and tried the tvtime app. But it seems that I don't get any sound. I tried turning up all the Line in channels and unmuting them. Also, I know that the card works under Windows. Any ideas anyone?
In addition, I just tried out Xawtv as well ... no sound there either .. seems like there is no sound at the output of the card itself... It's a Leadtek Winfast 2000XP Deluxe.
I have a Hauppauge Go2 card, and experience the same problem. When I installed core 2 yesterday, tvtime stopped outputting sound. If I turn the stereo up to max volume I can hear something from the channel tuned in by tvtime. I think it's a problem with the tvcard driver.
I also have an audigy card, but am having problems with it in fedora 2, im just wondering how you got it working right. I had patched the alsa drivers so they would install with it, but now the alsamixer wont change the volume, the volume is always maxed out, no mixer programs have any affect. im just wondering if you ran into this problem or how you installed your drivers so maybe i could follow those instructions.
Just wondering, did you do this on an Audigy LS card? or are using just a regular audigy or audigy 2. The problem being you have to have a specifc driver for the LS, been talking with the developer about it. and right now the line-in doesnt completely work, so its nothing to do with alsamixer or tv time.
Originally posted by alcapone Start alsamixer, then toggle (use m key) to turn the line on. Turn the sound up high to start with.
In Alsa (and everything else), the line in is already on, and unmuted. The line as surround slider is innacessible. Does this have anything to do with the problem?
That could be the problem. I'm using a Ensoniq/Cirrus Logic card - nothing fancy.
You should be able to play a sound before resorting to this. Run "system-config-soundcard" first.
Below are the sound/video related modules - from "lsmod". I'm not an expert in this area, but maybe this will help you.
Dont worry about posting anymore, I figured this out last week and it has nothing to do with me or alsamixer or anything, its all in the driver. The driver doesnt have linein working completely yet, so it doesnt really matter.
