no sound while playing flash in web browsers

How can I enable sound in web browser?
I have installed mozilla, netscape, konqueror, galeon and opera and flash pluging works perfectly but there is no sound. ie I went on www.pearljam.com there is flash animation with sound at the starting page but there is no sound.
Hint?

First, does sound work on the rest for the rest of the software? Dumb question, I know, but had to ask.

I have not had any issues with this on my 10.1 box, but you may want to try starting the browser on the command line and look for stderr output (error messages printed to the screen). Or you can try starting the browser under artsd ( KDE uses arts for sounds ). It would look like this:

Any sound server will work. Anyway does anyone know what the alsa sound server is. i hear on gentoo it's simply asound. However if I run asound on debian it simply says driver started and doesn't load a daemon. I'd really like to get this to work without arts or esd.

i know what alsamixer is but i dont know how to make permanent changes in it. ie when i setup sound in alsamixer and restart machine the sound is turned off again.
help?

Have you tried "rm -rf ~/.macromedia"?
