no sound in Second Life.

I recently bought a new PC and installed Second Life, from the website under Debian Sid. And there is no sound output visible in PulseAudio mixer. I ran ldd against the binary and installed the missing packages but, still, nothing.
Has anyone any other ideas? Anything I'm missing?

As an aside, I can't log in to SL using a third-party client so thatKs why I'm stuck with the official viewer.

Why?
Kokua project publishes https://sourceforge.net/projects/kok...r.bz2/download

Other projects also publish Linux versions. The one with the widest range of linux application compatibility is CoolVL.

Thanks, I forgot about Kokua, I remember that being OK. I should have typed "my third party SL viewer of choice" because, for whatever reason, Phoenix Firestorm rwefuses to log me in (just hope they're not robbing me).
Still, as aluded to above, the Linden version is, at least, somewhat trusted and it would be good to be able to use it.

Kokua seems as thought it may be discontinued with not HTTPS on the website and very old download links.
I don't suppose anyone knows how to tell how an application is trying to output sound, to work out the failed link?

Thank you for that. Matter it's not that I have a lot of mobney in SL but I tend to be wary of viewers which may not be legitimate. kokua looks decent so I'll take a look.

Cool, yes, Kokua worked. Oddly, after I had logged into my accounts using Kokua, and only after that, I could use Firestorm also. Not that I doubt these viewers, really, but the problems with the predecessor to Firestorm being used as a DDoS didn't help.
Don't have any real money in SL any more so not too worried and, at least, I can play a little now when I feel like it.
