no sound : gtk-recordmydesktop

hi all,
I am running ubuntu 10.10 on my system. I have installed gtk-recordmydesktop on my system.
I have not been able to record the sound from the system - when I play a movie and I use the software to record a part of it, the video is recorded but no sound.
I read on the internet that I should set the Advanced->Sound->Device entry to default !
It didnot work for me. I even tried setting it to hw:Intel without any success.
So can someone help me out with this problem ?
thanks in advance
nishith

I just changed the device value to
Quote:
pulse
and opened pavucontrol and then in the Input Devices tab chose Show Monitors.
Thereafter I opened the Recording tab and selected Show Applications.
I could get the audio alongwith video in gtk-recordmydesktop application.\

bye

This worked for Fedora 15 in VirtualBox. The issue was that pulse wasn't recording the right output stream, which I have no idea how to change (without pavucontrol). Once I selected "Monitor of Internal Audio Analog Stereo" from the Recording tab in pavucontrol, it recorded just fine! Thanks for the tips! It appears that this makes the default recordmydesktop option "DEFAULT" also fire up properly, in my case.
