no serial access on FC4 system

The system is a FC4 on a 600x laptop. The system was upgraded and after the upgrade serial access did not work. The BIOS monitor program shows the hardware is present and operational. The configuration did not change from FC3 which did work.

Where and how are physical devices bound to logical devices?

How can the results and status be monitored?

This system is using UDEV and it does not appear to create ttyS0.

Thanks,
Dan
