no modem in yellow dog linux- any ideas?

I've installed yellow dog linux on my mac, but linux doesn't see my modem. The modem works when I boot into OS9 but not from YDL.
YDL is a power pc distribution and is design to run on newer macs. Any mac savvy linux users who could shed any light on this please?

Mac, PC, Ultra Sparc... they're all PCI slots. What does the output of 'lspci' say is there?
Or, for the most information, 'cat /proc/pci'

First we have to figure out what kind of monster is in there, and then find the drivers for it... and knowing Jobs, they're probably proprietary and Lucent, which aren't that hard to deal with.

Cheers,

Finegan
