No Flash Player for 64-Bit Linux
Well, I have SuSE 10.0 x86_64 installed and it is working flawlessly with my AMD 64 bit system. The problem is that now, I have found out that there is no flash for 64-bit, nor is Macromedia planning to develop it any time soon.
Is there an alternate. I do not want to try to make the 32-bit app "work". Certainly someone has ported this to 64-bit......... maybe? Barney |
How would "someone" port it if Macromedia holds on to the source? :}
I had to bite the bullet and install a 32-bit browser for this :/ Cheers, Tink |
you can try gplflash. It didn't work for me but it migth work for you. I have FC4 x86_64 and run 32 bit browsers since not only flash isn't supported but a lot of video content is 32 bit and need win32 codecs.

I'm with Tink. I only just recently set up my AMD64 rig, but I'm running the regular (32 bit) Firefox. No problems, no complaints, no hassles. In short, there's nothing I really needed to do to make it "work" - I just downloaded the regular .tar.gz and installed it the same as with any 32 bit distro

i swear i have the 64 bit firefox and flash working in my 64 bit OS. I know it must be wrong, but when i go to help> about firefox, from within the browser, it says
Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060202 Firefox/1.5.0.1 thoughts? |
That's about what I get, but this is 32bit browser on 64bit linux...
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060124 Firefox/1.5.0.1 |
