"No Exec line in the session file: gnome."

I just finished a 'Standard' Mythbuntu installation without trouble, but once I get through the backend setup and everything and actually boot the installed system, I get a box saying:
"No Exec line in the session file: gnome.
Running the GNOME failsafe session instead."

I click OK and then get another box:

"Could not find the GNOME installation, will
try running the "Failsafe xterm" session."

Once the terminal window is open, I'm stuck with no root password (since Mythbuntu did that automatically) and no idea how to solve the problem even if I did know the password. Is there anything I can do or should I just reinstall?
