Can anyone recommend a good usenet binary file grabber for linux? It doesn't have to have a GUI, command line is fine too. I've tried nzbget but it seems to have trouble reading some .nzb files, and I'm not sure if it is still being developed.
I contibute to the nzbget project, and I am using it almost everyday! I love it, but it is nothing like NewsLeecher on Windows. Have you tried nzbget 0.2.0? I am using it with the ncurses mode turned on -- see the options in the man page.
Anyways, there is also BNR2, aka Binary News Reaper. I hate it though, but it does have a GUI. You might want that. There is also Pan, but I don't think it is suitable for binaries unless they changed things in recent versions...
pan is ok and works for binaries BUT it eats a lot of memory....if your using kde klibido seems to work fine Ive been using it for about a week but in klibido if the post isnt yy/uu encoded it may fail to download
I have since switched to the java-based Ninan. It is great and I use it everyday on Windows and Linux now rather than NewsLeecher and nzbget, respectively. Check it out:
