NFS trouble

im trying to mount an NFS share and i keep either getting permission dnied errors or it lags forever and wont do anything.
it only lags when i put the IP to my client machine in the /etc/hosts file. what is supposed to go in here exactly?
here is what i have in my configuration files.

/etc/exports
/root 192.168.0.102(rw,sync,no_root_squash)

/etc/hosts.deny
portmap: ALL

/etc/hosts.allow
portmap: 192.168.0.102
lockd: 192.168.0.102
rquotad: 192.168.0.102
mountd: 192.168.0.102
statd: 192.168.0.102

if you need any more info just let me know
