nfs mounting questino

I've set up my /etc/exports file like this:

/shared 192.168.1.101(rw,sync)

nfs is up and running and I know the connection to the other computer is good, because I can ssh it. The problem is when I try to mount /shared on the other computer, I get the following error:

mount: RPC: Remote system error - Connection refused

This happens even if I shut off iptables (service iptables off).

The other strange (but perhaps related) thing is that I can't ssh the first machine from the second, although vice-versa it works. I get the following error:

ssh: conneciton to host puter port 22: Connection refused

Again, this happens whether I have iptables off or not.

Phil

First, after creating or editing your exports file to share out the directory /share, did you restart NFS? If not, do that now.

Now how are you attempting to mount the share? Have you tried not adding that sync with rw? Test it by just having it (rw)

The first thing I try when trying to debug an NFS issue is to use the command:

showmount -e <hostname>

to display the nfs shares that are being made available from a given nfs server.
