Newly installed programs disappear...RH9 Q

I recently had to reformat/reinstall RH9 and I'm wondering if I left something out that was/is needed for my anti-virus and Linuxconf 1.3 to run correctly. Both programs installed without any errors but after several searches (ie...find command, KDE Start menu/Find) I come up empty...(note: both are rpm packages that I just double-clicked on and RH9 did the rest).

"One" question I have is should I try to uninstall both via the cli, and if so, what rpm command is used for uninstall? Any suggestions on what I may have omitted during the reinstall???...

Linuxconf is not a gui app and your anti-virus probably runs as a daemon. Have you read the FAQ or any documentation on using them?

To change to the root account, open an x terminal and use these commands from your user account. Note the change in the prompt.
Code:
[fancy@tinwhistle fancy]$ su -
Password:
[root@tinwhistle root]# linuxconf
Did it launch?

Uninstall command:
rpm -e <packagename without the .rpm>

See:
man rpm
info rpm
