Newbie rpms koko!! help needed
So I just got redhat installed on my comp, this is my first time using linux and it's pretty confusing for me, help me :)
After installing winamp package, where do I find the acctual software? |
emm. not sure I understand you. You already installed winamp [xmms is better - http://www.xmms.org/ ].
so you you just run it - try a command like: winamp in the console. If that did not work try: gwinamp If that did not work look at the README and INSTALL files if there are any. |
Check the documentation that came with it, usually the name of the program=command to use...btw winamp is just xmms for windows, so why not use xmms? www.xmms.org
|
Oh great! but, there's just one more thing... how do I enter/find the console? and thanks i'll get the xmms instead.
|
click the red fedora hat then go to system tools and click terminal. Or click an empty space on desktop, and click new terminal. Btw, i suggest making a shortcut to the terminal, because I'm sure you'll use it quite a bit.
|
YES! I made it work, winamp didn't work but xmms is now up and running, thanx mate! now I just have to figure out how to delete apps... like that winamp copy that didn't wokr.!
|
Great!!!
Deleting - prolly not a great idea at this point - wait until you know more about what you are doing before you start deleting things. If it is installed on there is should not cause any problems anyhow - unless of course if you are short on hard drive space? |
btw - did you install xmms yourself or did you use the native OS version?
~ the Native Os version has copyright Issues for legal reason so if you run into any issues playing mp3's or anything then just get the xmms version from their site. |
