Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I went to KDE-Look.org and found some nice icon themes for my version of KDE.
I downloaded a file :
which I unpacked.
However, the brief note on the web site said : # Install the Theme/Style by either extracting and compiling it, or installing an RPM.
# Open the KDE-Menu and start the Control Center.
# Select "Look and Feel".
# Select "Style" if the package you installed was a style, or select "Theme Manager" if the package you installed was a theme.
# Select your theme or style.
# Click "Apply"
# Have fun! :-)
I found the control center but there was no "Look and Feel" to select, just something called 'appearance and themes' under which there were several other headings, one of which was 'icons'.Yet when i click on 'install a new theme and brouse to the 153-Acqua-3.1 folder, it says that it is not a valid theme archive.
Can someone help me with this?
My KDE version is called 3.1-12 RedHat and I am running Red Hat 9.
Distribution: Mac OS X Leopard 10.6.2, Windows 2003 Server/Vista/7/XP/2000/NT/98, Ubuntux64, CentOS4.8/5.4
I believe your icons are actually in the directory /usr/share/icons.
I think you have to extract it somewhere, then copy it into /usr/share.
THen if there is a folder called "Default", just rename this directory and rename your icons to Default. I think this is what I did.
I haven't touched my icons in awhile, but I remember that any direction from kde-look.org for installation is NOT correct.
