Thought this would be a great place to ask for help here.
I'm having trouble running a game server under Linux.

Basically the server can run fine for any length of time without a problem then all of a sudden it crashes and is unrecoverable...ie needs a system rebuild.

the error is basically, when the machine gets high I/O
it starts spitting this to the console.

"Too much work at eth0"

and just keeps doing that..

what normally triggers this is if i'm unarchiving/archiving something.

Its a dual XP 1800 on a tyan mobo.
512 mb ram.

Appreciate any help on this.

I think the problem may be addressed in th 2.4.20 kernel. Try to upgrade your kernel to the latest stable version

I had the same problem and as DavidPhillips said update the kernel, that worked for me ( I changed some other stuff too, but thats irrelvent)
