I've installed knoppix on my hd to start learning how to use linux and retain some desktop functionality while I learn. Bittorrent is installed (or at least that's what apt-get sais) but when I click on a bittorrent download file, the choose application box comes up. Having a 4 day experience with linux that's where I get stuck. How can I proceed with my download.

bittorrent is a file-transfer protocol.
it's a download software which can download stuff from other seeders
anyway, i think you should make sure u can get online first. then worry about bittorrent.
in case u can go online, but just not downloading anything using bittorrent.
one reason might be your file doesn't have a avaible seeder or source online.
second one would be some bittorrent port was blocked if u have a router between your comp. and the internet.
