New PC new to linux

Greetings Smart Masses,

I am about to undertake a new endeavor. I am training for my A+ certification and am in the process of building a pc. I know I could go ahead and install Winxp, but I dont want to. I have heard and read many good things about LINUX. Being as how the pc I am building has an amd 64 processor. I purchased the novell SuSE linux 9.2 pro distro. I read this works with the AMD 64. I am writing hoping someone can give me some advice to make this a fairly painless task. Any help will be appreciated. More questions will follow.

Thanks,
WMNEWTON

well to install suse 9.2 pro all you need to do is put the cd in and reboot
your pc should boot to it
suse detects most of the stuff on your pc and network settings for you.
you basically only have to click the forward button
hope it helps

Did you get the 64 bit verion or does SuSe 9.2 Pro come with the 64 bit CDs? I know for Fedora Core, there are separate CDs for the 32 bit and 64 bit version.

yeah. i would make sure you have the 64bit version. im thinking that box may only include the x86 version. you can use the x86 and it will work really well, but a 64bit version would be much faster on your system.
