new mother board, now can't get OS to boot

Hi, I just replaced my old mother board ABIT KA-7 with a new one MKA1223F from computer geeks.com which they said is linux compatible. When I boot up everything looks fine until after running the ramdisk check which reads [i] RAMDISK: Compressed Image found at blcok 0. The following are the lines that indicate a problem:

When booting with RedHat 7.2 CDROM
crc errorFreeing initrd memory: 2046k freed
EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock
cramfs: wrong magic
isofs_read_super:bread failed, dev=09:02, iso_blknum=16, block=32
kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 09:02

when booting the redhat 7.2 system installed on the HD
crc errorFreeing initrd memory: 325k freed
EXT2-fs warning: mounting unchecked fs, running e2fsck is recommended
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
Freeing unused kernel memory: 240k freed
Warning: unable to open initial console.
Kernel panic: no init found. try passing init= option to kernel.

I can't pass any options or fsck anything because I don't get a prompt even booting from a floppy or CD. How can I fix this. I'm assuming the problem is with the Harddrive and that my MoBo is not the issue. Is that correct?

Thanks for any and all advice and help.
