New kernel and ext3 filesystem

I've just compiled a nice new kernel (2.4.13 - I think, can't really remember, not at Linux box). Tried booting it and it complains about me using ext3. Will I have to patch my new kernel (not ever done this yet, is it similar to compiling kernel?) or does anyone know if later kernels currently support ext3 natively?

Cheers.

yeah, it's native by then i'm sure. maybe you need to make sure it's configured in the kernel, and having the newest version of the ext2 tools might help, but i think 1.25 comes with md81 anyway, so that's ok...

I'm almost 99% positive that ext3 was only merged into the "stable" branch in greased-turkey/dead-duck. Its definatly in 2.4.16 so for any version < 2.4.15 you need to patch or use the -AC tree.

Cheers guys, will go and get 2.4.16+ now! There's no-way I'm going back to ext2. Just go tired of having to fsck everytime I tried something new (i.e. mainly trying to access my zipdisk, but that's another story) and had to hard-reboot.
