New Gtk file requester

Hello,

i have installed gimp 2.2.2 ( now part of debian of debian testing ) and i have noticed that when i want to open a file, a new kind of file requester appears.

It's better looking than the previous, you can tiem-sort files ( good features ) but what's happened to the text box with tab completion????

With this interface for me is simply a nightmare to open a file located somewhere in the filesystem.

The save requester instead still has a text entry with file completion.

Is there a setting to obtain again a text entry also in the loadfile requester?

Thank you in advance.

GTK has a new file chooser, so the new versions of GIMP have been coded to use it. Franky speaking, I really don't like the new GTK/GNOME file chooser, it's just seems to take longer to navigate to get to directories your want select or save files.

Press ctrl + L when you have the dialog open to get the text box.

Tormented: Thank you for the ctrl+L .

Works but the previous gtk requester was much better user in this mode ( eg. no ~<username> ).

Redazz, this one imo seems better for novice users ( easier, time sort ), but for me isn't better.

I have never liked that much the gtk requester, but at least gtk 1.2 and gtk 2.0 requesters could be used using tab completion in a not so bad way.

I hope gtk developers will realize that they'll have to improve it again ( size sort, a well working keyboard tab completion, maybe chooseable bookmarks ).
