netscape segmentation fault...??

Hello All,

something BAD is going on with my netscape browser....

When I try to start it, I get a segmentation fault

"line 384 ..... Segmentation fault $prog ${1+"$@"}"

So I thought, perhaps if I just reinstall it...

I did, and same story.

So I downloaded Firefox, and guess what....?

Exactly the same error message!?!?!!

What's going on?

Any thoughts?

What do you mean when you say you reinstalled it? On distros I'm familiar with there is a reinstall option available, but since the "uninstallation" portion does not purge the config files I'm not sure it should have helped you. I'm curious too, whether or not you have tried a different Mozilla derivative. Firefox and Mozilla come to mind but there is also Konqueror (bloat) and Galeon.

If you are using a distro with apt-get support, you might try running "apt-get remove --purge <package-name>" followed by the usual installation syntax ("apt-get install"). Also, there is an option for removing the package that resides in your apt cache directory. YOU may wish to try doing this and downloading a fresh package, before doing the second part.
