Could everyone help me how to install netscape into linux because after I run stallation, and the message appear like this " Fatal error (-616) : Couldn't open Xpistub library" What should I do to fix this problem .
Can you supply us with a litte more information? Which version of Netscape are you trying to install? It sounds like you are using a precopiled binary yeah? Which version of Linux are you trying to install it on? And, last but not least, how come you are using Netscape instead of Mozilla (literally run 'mozilla' from a command prompt under X).
Thank you for answering my question. Sorry, I didn't give you enough information. I'm using the Redhat Linux 9.2. Could you show me step by step to uninstall Mozilla 1.2 because I was new with this operating system.
Everyone please help me where to get MIDI audio player for my computer because when I download MID files down to my computer and I tried to opent and listen, but it didn't work at all. .
I'm having the same error, although it's code -618. I googled it, and this and a German site were the only ones that came up, but I'm working the google fu. Figured I might try here, as well!
I am attempting to install Netscape 7.1 on Fedora 7, and it almost completely installs until it hits the xpistub library, and then it fails out on me. Am I missing a step? It's probably my very first program install on Fedora, so I wouldn't be surprised if I went about it completely wrong. I was proud just having figured out I needed to extra the tar.gz, lol!
I'm not sure, but i think that Fedora uses the rpm system to install things.
Ok, i'm going to assume that you're new to linux, so here's how things go:
most distros use some kind of "package manager" to manage packages
packages are pieces of software like netscape. In linux, lots of programs "depend", or rely on eachother to work, so the linux OS is like a brick wall. So, if you are trying to install netscape without the xpistub library supporting brick, it won't work.
what you are trying to do, install with a .tar.gz (or .tar.bz2), this involves not using the package manager. package managers usually solve the depenencies by themselves so you don't have to go running around looking for all the right bricks (meaning they will download the packages for the missing bricks for you)
So, what i am saying is, use fedora's package manager to install netscape
>>each different package manager has its own kind of package file format, so when i say "rpm", that means that the package manager requires .rpm files. Usually, instead of downloading these, you can find ones using your package manager, which then downloads the package from a server hosting packages made exclusively for fedora
somebody else is going to have to tell you how because the only expeirence i have with linux is the SUSE distro.
I tried using the RPM installer for Adobe (I have an x86 64 bit chip so I have to install the special program from the plugindoc for Mozilla, with the nswrapper plugin that adds the compatibility layer)... It would start, I would see a browser pull up and what would look like a media file opening and it would just... stall out and hang. So I'm not sure if I'm just doing it wrong??
Thanks, again!!
And yes.. I'm new to Linux
I really just sort of.. hit the ground running on this OS... the more and more I dive into it, it really seems like the standard Windows OS built on a Linux kernel. Operate it like Windows, but play with it like Linux..
Thanks!
