Netscape 7.1 & J2RSE plugin trouble

Hi. I needed Java 2 Runtime so I download version 1.5.0 . I am using Netscape 7.1 . I downloaded the .bin file and then did ln -s from "/root/j2re1.5.0/plugin/i386/ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so" to "usr/lib/netscape/plugins/".
So, asuming that the plugin is already working I restart Netscape and try to use the Web Bases Icq for example and I get a message asking me if would like to install J2RSE. So I downloaded version 1.4.2 and did a new link to the plugins folder from the jrse directory but still I couldn't get it to work. I am completely lost and have ran out of ideas . Can anybody help? Thx

well--

i am not using netscape but i am running konqueror with java and flash 6!

the way i did it was.......

konqueror needs mozilla for plugins or netscape.

so i ----some of my rough notes..

go to settings>configure konqueror and java tab.

use this directory to enable plugin

/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/bin/java

the directory above is were i extracted it to or cut and pasted the extracted bin file.

there you have it.

so what i am trying to tell you is that you need to find the "java" in a directory and have netscape rescan it. i never used netscape and when i did, i had no problems but im not intending to install since i don't use it.

i hope more people can add and give you a clue but for now, try it with konqueror and im sure it will work fine.
