Nethack keymapping

I just managed to get Nethack working on my laptop!

Woohoo!

Forgot one thing tho. And which brings me to my question.

Nethack uses the num keypad for movement (ie: the actual numbers) but for a laptop that's problematic (no keypad).

If I activate the keypad, I lose part of the keyboard and so, some of the controls.

Is there anyway to edit to key mapping or change an option somewhere so that I can use the arrow-keys or something?

wow...so long and nobody knows?

I'm now using the VI like keys to move...but I'd still LOVE to use the arrow keys if anyone knows a way how.

Interestingly enough (in CASE someone looks for this question)

the QT version of nethack lets you use the arrow keys. I've still not found ANY info on how to make it like that in ASCII console mode (my favorite mode of play).

This is a little frustrating because the windows version does this by default so why not the linux version?
