Need to uninstall grub and install in root superblock

Hi guys,

i have windows xp installed on a sata raid-0 and ubuntu installed on an IDE drive...i need to setup a dual boot scenario using the XP bootloader..this guide tells me how to do it

http://www.linuxsolved.com/forums/ftopic125.html

what i basically need to do is uninstall grub from the MBR and install it to a root superblock(bootsector) ...i only have experience with lilo and that doesnt seem to work for me..so how do i ...

1) uninstall grub from mbr of /dev/hda
2) install it to a /boot

p.s - does /boot *have* to be in a seperate partition or is it ok if its a folder in / ?

i shuddered when just reading the title.
many nightmares playing with grub vs lilo mbr vs boot sector

i think maybe you'll be better served asking in the arch sub-conference.

AFAIK though there is nothing that Grub can do that Lilo can't but make sure you have a bootable disk )floppy or CD) to hand B4 u start playing as it will at some stage go wrong - don't worry though as you're unliley to lose any data :-)

There must be hundreds of threads on this.
You don't uninstall boot-loaders. You overlay them with a new one - in your case presumably via fixmbr.
Code:
grub-install --root-directory=/boot /dev/hda
It's all in the manual at the grub site.
A mount point is just a mount point - I seem to recall grub defaults to the root directory.
Your choice.
