Need to convert SWF to AVI or MPEG

I have several Flash files that I would like to convert into AVI or MPEG4 file's, but all the programs that I tried so far seem to refuse to do so, I tried Avidemux, ffmpeg and mencoder... mencoder didnt even agreed to start he just gave me this error:

Others simply didnt accepted the SWF file's. I also tried to download a Swf2avi script I saw in the internet but it simply quits right after its start. Anyone know of any way to convert swf's?

is there any difference between swf (shock-wave-flash) and flv (flash-video) ?

i assume 1 is flash presentations and the other is for possible embedded video for flash presentations

where are you getting your videos from (yootube, adultswim, ...) ?

using my knoppix test bed, i am able to download the .flv by grep-ing from my firefox cache.

then i use mencoder -ovc lavc -oac lavc (sometimes stream-copy works better).
