Talking Need Tips on compiling apps that include all dependencies

Hi people. First of all I'm not a Guru (not even close to one) so take it easy.

Basically I've been re mastering a Knoppix disc in which I'm thinking of making a clean lite version that will have only system & admin control tools and do my best for hardware compatibility.

If everything goes ok then I'm thinking of making an installation manager that will install apps in a "Programs" directory along with all of their dependencies (ok dont shout at me... yes I know... there will be duplicates). The installer is meant for newbies . It could be something like the PBI installer in PC-BSD (http://www.pcbsd.org/)...

Can anyone help me out on how to compile all the stuff (both app and deps) in one target?

Is there a way to automatically find and download dependabilities for a source package?? just asking

Sounds like you're trying to do what's already been done: http://www.gobolinux.org.

I've gone through gobolinux web site looking for some sort of documentation that might help but couldn't find anything of use.

Do you know where I can find any info on how these guys compile their apps?

Something that would help me figure out what parameters to put on make and/or how to modify my .configure scripts in order to put them all under one directory...

They use something called Compile, and a Recipes tree (http://www.gobolinux.org/index.php?p...ticles/compile) which this article describes as a set of scripts.

The document on gobo does not really clears things out. These guys use compilation recipes that grab the dependencies from the internet but this is not what I'm thinking about.

My idea is "ready to copy and run" binary packages. no compilations of what so ever.

Through Gobo's document I've gotten a link that took me to GNU's tools:
Autoconf, Automake, Gnulib, Libtool, Pointers which I've seen many times in front of me but never got to try them up. I'm thinking of giving them a good study and see If I get somewhere.

If you would know of any good documentation (except GNU's official) about them please let me know.

On the other hand, if you know of a quicker way into compiling, then also please let me know.
