I need a somewhat dynamic graphics viewer for a specific application. The basic specifications are:
- Display a schematic diagram (similar to a floor plan) full screen.
- Be able to automatically pan the diagram on the screen.
- Be able to center a particular part of the diagram on the screen based on data received from a serial port.
- Be able to change the color of various elements of the diagram based on data received from a serial port.
- Do it on linux.
- Do it based on something existing, minimizing the programming effort.
Based on my poking around so far, it seems to me that I should use SVG and that my best bets are to gin up something based on Batik-Squiggle or the Keystone framework.
Questions:
- Is there something else I should take a look at?
- Anything that might be a problem with using Squiggle or Keystone?
- Is the Keystone Framework still alive/available? (I had been to the website, but not downloaded it. The website now appears to be gone.)
Thanks,
Avi
