You should use a SUSE rpm package rather than one from the Alt Linux distro.
I found that
or that
Try to install rather one of these for SUSE 10.1 release and i586 architecture and the dependencies should be right.

Question ......more questions

I've just been looking around packman. There's so many packages available for download!! are there any other sites dedicated to software support as packman is? how reliable are the packages from these servers & what are the risks?
ps the faac installation worked beautifully:-)thanks alot berbae

You are welcome!
For the infos you ask, I suggest you post at a OpenSUSE forum.
I can give you two addresses :
http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de
http://www.suseforums.net/
But as far as I know, the Packman site is reliable.
