Need Link to netpbm linux binaries

Looking for netpbm binaries for 686 Linux. Found the netpbm binaries to the gallery project, but they don't have the full netpbm library. I came across

http://ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Lin...994-bin.tar.gz

but I think that needs csh which I don't have.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't have access to root.

If you have a compiler (gcc) installed, you can do :
cd /netpbm-10.35.76/
./configure
make
make package pkgdir=$HOME/netpbm
./installnetpbm
...... And please read netpbm-10.35.76/doc/INSTALL.

No compiler ? Then tell, which Linux <name>, <version>, is used.
( Which should be told, every time, you ask a question, please.)
The command 'cat /etc/release' will most often display name/version.

Thank you for your solution knudfl. Sorry for not including my Linux name and version. I can only guess its Fedora 7 (my webhost won't say anything more about this other than the OS is Linux).

I did try the `make' command as you suggested but it wasn't installed on my system. However, Bryan from the netpbm website suggested this approach:

$ rpm2cpio xxx.rpm >xxx.cpio
$ mkdir xxx
$ cd xxx
$ cpio --extract --file ../xxx.cpio --make-directories

I had to do this for the binaries and libraries separately. I then checked the library path and then I could start using netpbm without any problems.
